Cardinals Place Two On Injured Reserve, Sign Three

The Cardinals announced on Wednesday they have placed CB Kevin Peterson and LB Tanner Vallejo on injured reserve.

Arizona also signed CB Andre Chachere from Carolina’s practice squad and LB Keishawn Bierria from Jacksonville’s practice squad. The Cardinals promoted Vontarrius Dora from their own practice squad.

Peterson, 25, wound up going undrafted out of Oklahoma State in May of 2017. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Bears’ practice squad at the start of the 2016 season.

The Rams signed him to a future/reserve contract in 2017 and he’s been on and off of their active roster since. Peterson missed the 2018 season with a knee injury suffered in August.

Los Angeles re-signed Peterson as an exclusive rights free agent in 2019 but ended up waiving him coming out of the preseason. He was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals.

In 2019, Peterson appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals, recording 19 total tackles and two pass defenses.

Vallejo, 24, is a former sixth-round pick by the Bills out of Boise State in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was in the second year of his four-year rookie contract when the Bills waived him at the start of the 2018 season.

The Browns claimed Vallejo off of waivers last year before placing him on injured reserve. From there, Vallejo was claimed by the Cardinals, but wound up being among their final roster cuts.

The Redskins claimed Vallejo waivers before recently cutting him loose. He re-signed with Arizona to the practice squad and was recently promoted to the active roster.

In 2019, Vallejo has appeared in nine games for the Redskins and two games for the Cardinals, recording eight total tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
