Cardinals Release RB Chris Rainey From Practice Squad, Sign RBs Kerwynn Williams & Jalen Parmele

The Arizona Cardinals cut RB Chris Rainey from the practice squad on Thursday and replaced him with former Colts RB Kerwynn Williams, per Darren Urban.

Rainey, 26, is a former fifth-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He lasted less than a year with the Steelers before he was placed on waivers. Rainey later signed on with the Colts in November of last year before joining the Cardinals not too long ago.

Rainey has been involved in multiple domestic violence situations that ultimately led to his release, so it’s really not all that surprising to see them part ways with him.

Last season, he appeared Rainey two games and recorded six kickoff returns for 131 yards and four punt returns for 29 yards.

Parmele, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Miami Dolphins. The Ravens later signed him off of the Dolphins’ practice squad and kept him around for three years. Since 2012, has played for the Jaguars, Titans and Cardinals.

Williams, 23, was a seventh-round draft pick of the Colts back in 2013. He later wound up on their practice squad and was released at the start of October.

The Chargers signed him to a future/reserve contract in January, but he was unable to make the roster a few weeks ago.
