Cardinals Sign Second-Round WR Christian Kirk

The Arizona Cardinals announced Thursday that they’ve signed Texas A&M WR Christian Kirk to a four-year rookie contract.

The Cardinals now have signed five of their six draft picks including:

Rd Pick Player Pos. Status
1 10 Josh Rosen QB Signed
2 47 Christian Kirk WR Signed
3 97 Mason Cole C
4 134 Chase Edmonds RB Signed
6 182 Christian Campbell CB Signed
7 254 Korey Cunningham OT Signed

It recently surfaced that Kirk was arrested back in February and charged with disorderly conduct and property damage. However, Cardinals HC Steve Wilks insisted they were aware of the incident and believe the rookie is still a “high character” prospect.

Well, I’m not going to go indulge in what he told us, but I will say this, we knew about it. We did our own independent research on it and we felt very good about the information that we received and that’s why we moved forward in really drafting him,” said Wilks, via Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. “As I stated before, we want to bring in great character guys and I think Christian is one of those guys. I think the situation is going to resolve itself here in a couple of months. And with it still being an on-going legal issue, I’m not going to go into it any further than that.”

Kirk, 21, was taken with the No. 47 overall pick by the Cardinals in the second round of this year’s draft. According to OverTheCap.com, he receives a four-year, $5,894,874 contract that includes a $2,367,180 signing bonus.

During his three-year college career at Texas A&M, Kirk caught 234 passes for 2,856 yards receiving and 26 touchdowns over the course of 39 games.
