The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday that they’ve officially signed QB Matt Barkley following the news that Drew Stanton suffered a sprained knee during last week’s loss to the Seahawks and could miss a game or two.
- Arizona also promoted DB Harlan Miller to their active roster and signed CB Jarrell Carter to their practice squad.
The Cardinals’ practice squad now consists of:
- WR Carlton Agudosi
- DT Pasoni Tasini
- TE Anthony Denham
- LB Earl Okine
- LB Connor Harris
- OT Vinston Painter
- DE Peli Anau
- QB Mike Bercovici
- OT Storm Norton
- CB Jarrell Carter
Barkley, 27, is a former fourth-round pick by the Eagles of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent two years with the Eagles before he was traded to the Cardinals in return for a seventh-round pick at the start of 2015 season.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals elected to waive Barkley coming out of the preseason last year, but he later signed on to the Bears’ practice squad before being called up a few weeks into the season.
The 49ers signed him to a two-year, $4-million contract this past March before releasing him last week.
In 2016, Barkley threw for 1,611 while completing 59.7 percent of his passes to go along with eight touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
