The Los Angeles Chargers announced Saturday that they’ve promoted RB Kalen Ballage, DB Quenton Meeks and DE Jessie Lemonier to their active roster.
The Chargers also placed CB Brandon Facyson on the COVID-19 list and signed S Jaylen Watkins to their practice squad.
Ballage, 24, is a former fourth-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Arizona State. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $3 million rookie contract.
Miami had initially planned to release Ballage but the Jets swooped in with an offer before he could be placed on waivers. New York agreed to send a conditional 2021 seventh-round pick to Miami in exchange for Ballage. However, the deal fell through after he failed a physical.
The Jets later signed Ballage to their roster before waiving him a few weeks later. He then signed on to the Chargers’ practice squad.
In 2020, Ballage has appeared in three games for the Jets and rushed for 13 yards on three carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 67 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Lemonier, 23, signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Liberty back in April. He was among Los Angeles’ final roster cuts coming out of training camp and re-signed to their practice squad.
The Chargers promoted him in late September but waived him after a month and signed him, once again, to the taxi squad.
In 2020, Lemonier has appeared in three games but did not record any statistics.
During his two-year college career, he recorded 135 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and three forced fumbles.
