The $20 million per year average makes Allen the NFL’s second-highest receiver in terms of salary behind Atlanta’s Julio Jones

The deal includes up to $50 million total guaranteed, according to Jeremy Fowler.

Allen was entering the final year of his deal in 2020. He was set to make a base salary of $8.5 million in 2020.

The team confirmed the move with an announcement on Twitter.

Allen, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $46.671 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.

In 2019, Allen appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and caught 104 passes for 1,199 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 16 yards on three carries.
