Sports Illustrated draft analyst Tony Pauline “hears” that the Chicago Bears will draft LSU DT Michael Brockers if he’s still on the board with their 19th overall pick in the Draft.
Pauline also says that if Brockers is taken in the first 18, the Bears could opt for Illinois DE Whitney Mercilus, who apparently “has been ranked high” on their draft board. Mercilus visited Chicago last week and was worked out privately by the team.
He reports that the Bears are “more likely” to draft a defensive lineman in the first round, and wait for receivers in the second and third rounds. Chicago have improved their receiving corps in free agency, acquiring WR Brandon Marshall in a trade with the Miami Dolphins.
