Chiefs Roster Cuts Including LB Jonathan Massaquoi & C Drew Nowak

The Kansas City Chiefs have begun the process of trimming their roster down to 75 players. Here’s the full list of roster cuts up to this point:

Other roster moves include:

  • OLB Justin Houston (PUP)

Massaquoi, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2012. He spent a little over three years in Atlanta before he was claimed and later claimed by the Titans back in March of last year.

Unfortunately for Massaquoi, he was cut loose at the start of the season, as Tennessee cut their roster down to 53 players. The Chiefs signed him to a contract back in March.

In 2014, he appeared in 15 games and recorded 22 tackles, two sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has Massaquoi rated as the No. 23 defensive end in a 4-3 defense last year out of 59 qualifying players.

Nowak, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan back in 2012. He spent a few years on and of the Jaguars’ active roster before signing a future/reserve contract with Seattle back in February of last year.

The Seahawks wound up entering the 2015 season with Nowak as their starting center after trading Max Unger to the Saints in return for Jimmy Graham. However, he was waived later on in the year.

Seattle elected to bring him back on a future/reserve deal a few months ago, only to waive him a few months ago. The Chiefs later signed him to a contract in early May.

In 2015, Nowak has appeared in eight games for the Seahawks before being benched after their Week 9 bye. Pro Football Focus has Nowak rated as the No. 22 center out of 37 qualifying players.
