According to the Athletic’s Greg Auman, the Kansas City Chiefs hosted former Bucs FB Alan Cross for a visit this past week.
Cross retired from the NFL in January and has been working as a graduate assistant coach at Memphis.
Per Auman, Tampa Bay had placed Cross on the reserve-retired list and did not tender him as a restricted free agent, making him eligible for the open market should he unretire.
Cross, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis. He was waived coming out of the preseason but later signed to the Buccaneers’ practice squad before eventually being promoted to their active roster.
In 2018, Cross appeared in 14 games and caught two passes for 9 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
