Chiefs Hosted ILB Gerald Hodges For Visit, Left Without Deal

Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs hosted free agent LB Gerald Hodges for a visit, but he would up leaving without an agreement in place.

The Chiefs could use some depth at inside linebacker, given that veteran Derrick Johnson is working his way back from a torn Achilles he suffered late last season and Hodges is one of the best available options at the position.

Hodges, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2013. Minnesota elected to trade Hodges to the 49ers in return for a sixth-round pick and C Nick Easton back in 2015.

Hodges played out the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million rookie contract and is now testing the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Hodges appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and recorded 83 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
