According to Matt Verderame, the Chiefs are interested in re-signing veteran G Stefen Wisniewski and they’ve set up a meeting late this week to discuss a possible return.
Verderame mentions that if Wisniewski tests the open market, the Jets could be a potential suitor, given that he was with the Eagles with Joe Douglas, who is now the Jets GM.
Wisniewski, 30, is a former second-round pick by the Raiders back in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He finished out his rookie contract and signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars in 2015.
After finishing his deal in Jacksonville, Wisniewski signed a one-year deal with the Eagles and returned to Philadelphia on a three-year, $9 million extension. However, Philadelphia declined his team-option for 2019 and re-signed him to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
Philadelphia wound up cutting him loose coming out of the preseason and the Chiefs signed Wisniewski to a contract soon after.
In 2019, Wisniewski appeared in all 11 games for the Chiefs, making two starts. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 16 guard out of 80 qualifying players.
