Howard Balzer reports that the Chiefs have signed eight players to future/reserve contracts on Tuesday including QB Joel Stave.
The full list of players signed to futures deals includes:
- OT Joseph Cheek
- G Jordan Devey
- DB Jimmy Hall
- DT Cory Johnson
- WR Seantavius Jones
- DE David King
- LB Earl Okine
- QB Joel Stave
Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.
Stave, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in May. He was, unfortunately, waived coming out of the preseason before later signing on to the Vikingsโ practice squad.
The Vikings cut Stave loose back in November and he later signed on to the Seahawksโ practice squad after clearing waivers. Stave didnโt last long with the Seahawks but was eventually signed to the Chiefsโ practice squad where he finished out the season.
During his four-year college career, Stave threw for 7,635 yards while completing 59.5 percent of his passes to go along with 48 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
