Chiefs Sign DE Anthony Lanier To Futures Deal, Add RB Mike Weber To PS

The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed DE Anthony Lanier to a futures contract for the 2020 season on Wednesday and signed RB Mike Weber to their practice squad.

Here’s the Chiefs updated practice squad:

  1. WR Joe Fortson
  2. TE Nick Keizer
  3. LB Emmanuel Smith
  4. DT Braxton Hoyett
  5. QB Kyle Shurmur
  6. DB Elijah McGuire
  7. DL Devaroe Lawrence
  8. WR Gehrig Dieter
  9. DB Chris Lammons
  10. RB Mike Weber

Lanier, 26, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama A&M back in 2016. He was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and he later reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.

Washington waived Lanier from injured reserve with an injury settlement and he eventually signed on to the Chargers’ practice squad last year.

In 2017, Lanie appeared in 11 games and recorded 14 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and six pass defenses.
