Chiefs Sign TE Neal Sterling, Cut Three

The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed TE Neal Sterling to a contract on Thursday and waived LB Gary Johnson, OT Justin Senior and RB James Williams.

Sterling, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the teamโ€™s practice squad, but he managed to make the 53-man roster in 2017.

Sterling had brief stints with the Jets and Chiefs before New York elected to sign him off the Chiefsโ€™ practice squad. The Jets brought him back on a one-year restricted tender worth $1.907 for the 2018 season.

After Sterlingโ€™s contract expired, the Jets elected to bring him back in March as an unrestricted free agent. However, he was released a few days ago.

In 2018, Sterling appeared in five games and caught six passes for 47 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
