Jones, 24, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis back in May of last year. He was, unfortunately, waived during the first round of roster cuts, but was later added to Houston’s practice squad where he remained for the entire 2016 season.
The Texans elected to bring Jones back on a future/reserve contract this past January only to cut him loose a few weeks after this year’s draft.
During his four-year career at Memphis, Jones caught 90 passes for 1,215 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He also added 89 yards rushing and two touchdowns over the course of 46 games.
