Chris Johnson Has Interest From Multiple Teams, But Looking For The Right Situation

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that free agent RB Chris Johnson has multiple teams interested in his services, but heโ€™s waiting to make the right decision.

This fits with a report fromย Jason La Canforaย from last night who mentioned that whileย Johnsonย isย “mulling” aย one-year contract offer from the Cardinals, he remains in a “holding pattern” due to the interest he has received from other teams.

Dianna Marie Russini of ESPNย first reported that the Cardinals had offered Johnsonย a one-year contract.

Josina Anderson spoke to a Cardinals’ source who said that as long as Johnson is in shape, they’re prepared to get going sooner than later.

If heโ€™s in shape and ready to roll, then get involved and jump on this thing and see what we can do with you,” said Anderson’s source. “Thatโ€™s kind of how weโ€™re looking at it. So, it will be interesting. If not, we can keep moving. The ship will keep sailing.โ€

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians expressed some frustration in recent days with the team’s current group of running backs and added that they planned on discussing their available options.

Despite being a notable free agent, there really hasn’t been any reported interest in Johnson since free agency got underway several months ago. Although, there has been a lot of speculation that the Cowboys could be a potential landing spot for him.

Johnson was, unfortunately, involvedย drive by shooting back in March that took the life of aย close friend who was sitting next to him in a car.

Johnson, 29,ย ran for 663 yards on 155 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 151 yards receiving and two total touchdowns during the 2014 season. Pro Football Focus rated Johnson as the No. 46 running back out of 57 qualifying players
