Colts CB Vontae Davis Expected To Miss “At Least” First Month Of Season

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Colts CBย Vontae Davis is expected to miss “at least” the first month of the 2016 season, due toย ligament damage in ankle.

This explains why the Colts signed veteran CBย Antonio Cromartie to a contract on Monday.

Colts HCย Chuck Pagano mentioned earlier in the day thatย Davis is “week to week“, but it sounds like his ankle injury is a little more severe that Pagano was letting on.

Davis, 28, is in the third year of his four-year, $36 million contractย that includesย $20 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015,ย Davis appeared in all 16 games and recorded 48 tackles, four interceptions and 16 pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 29 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
