There has been some recent buzz linking the Colts to notable free agent quarterbacks including Tom Brady and Philip Rivers.
One report from Thursday mentioned that the Colts were among the teams that have met with Brady’s reps at the Combine. However, a league source who spoke with Stephen Holder strongly denied the Colts have engaged in any discussions with Bradyโs camp.
In fact, Holder’s source said the report was โmade up.โ
As for Rivers, numerous reports have mentioned him as a name to watch for Indianapolis. Holder reports that the Colts are vetting Rivers in anticipation of his free agency next month.
According to Holder, the Colts aren’t denying that they’ve done work on Rivers, but one source he spoke to cautioned against drawing firm conclusions.
Holder says all options remain in play for the Colts at this point in time.
Brady, 42, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2000. He was in the final year of his two-year, $41 million contract when he agreed to a two-year extension a few weeks ago.
