On Saturday, Colts GM Chris Ballard announced that they’re picking up C Ryan Kelly‘s fifth-year option before the upcoming deadline, per Zak Keefer.
The fifth-year option is guaranteed for injury only and won’t prevent the two teams from working on a long-term deal over the next year.
Kelly, 25, is a former first-round pick by the Colts back in 2016. He is entering the final year of a four-year, $10.45 million rookie contract and is set to make a base salary of $1.4 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Kelly appeared in all 12 games for the Colts and ProFootballFocus rated him as the No. 11 overall center out of 38 qualifying players.
