The Indianapolis Colts announced Friday that they’ve signed DE Dadi Nicolas and placed RB Spencer Ware on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List.
This will cost Ware the first six games of the regular season.
Ware, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He spent over a year in Seattle before signing on with the Chiefs at the end of the 2014 season.
The Chiefs signed Ware to a three-year, $4.2 million contract that included $1.6 million guaranteed in 2016. The team allowed Ware to hit free agency after his contract expired following this past season.
The Colts signed Ware to a one-year, $1.3 million deal for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Ware appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs, rushing 51 times for 246 yards (4.8 YPC) and two touchdowns. Ware also caught 20 passes for 224 yards receiving.
Nicolas, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. The Chiefs agreed to trade him to the Browns last year but the deal was later voided due to physicals.
Kansas City elected to waive Nicolas soon after and he would go on to have brief stints with the Seahawks and Redskins before the Colts signed him this past May. He was just recently cut loose.
In 2016, Nicolas appeared in 10 games for the Chiefs and recorded one pass defense and no tackles.
