Colts GM Chris Ballard says the Colts will place DT Sheldon Day on injured reserve and re-sign OT Chaz Green, per Andrew Walker.
Green had been cut in a procedural move to get Day to injured reserve. The veteran signed with Indianapolis this offseason but has been battling a knee injury.
The Colts plan to designate Day to return later this season. He must spend at least the first three weeks of the year on injured reserve.
Day, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.9 million contract when the Jaguars waived him during the 2017 season.
The 49ers later claimed Day off of waivers and he spent the past three years in San Francisco. Day signed with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2019, Day appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and recorded 15 tackles and a sack.
