Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Hitner, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Villanova back in April. He later agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Rams.
However, Los Angeles waived Hitner coming out of the preseason. He would later have brief stints with the Jets and Bills on the practice squad.
During his college career at Villanova, Hitner was a two-year starter, appearing in 28 total games.
