The Indianapolis Colts announced Thursday that they’ve signed QB Stephen Morris off of the Eagles’ practice squad.
- The Colts also placed CB D’Joun Smith on the Injured Reserve list.
Morris, 24, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as a priority undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of last year. He was unable to make the roster last year and later signed on to their practice squad.
The Eagles claimed him off of waivers a few weeks ago after he was among the Jaguars final roster cuts. Morris was later cut loose to make room for veteran QB Thad Lewis, but returned to their practice squad just a few days later.
In two preseason games, Morris has throw for 198 while completing 57 percent of his passes to go along with one touchdown.
Smith, 22, was taken in the third round of this year’s NFL draft and signed a four-year, $3.314 million contract that included an $808,846 signing bonus.
Indianapolis placed Smith knee on short-term I.R. with a knee injury just a few weeks into the regular season. He was activated close to a month ago.
His rookie season was limited to four games in which he made one tackle and recovered a fumble.
