Colts Sign QB Stephen Morris To Practice Squad, Cut S Lee Hightower

The Indianapolis Colts announced Thursday that they’ve signed QB Stephen Morris to their practice squad and waived S Lee Hightower.

  • Rand Getlin reports that the Colts are paying Morris $20,000 per weeks to be on their practice squad, which is the most of any practice squad player in the NFL.

The Colts’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DE Sterling Bailey
  2. ILB Trevor Bates
  3. QB Stephen Morris
  4. TE Mike Miller
  5. CB Christopher Milton
  6. DT Kelcy Quarles
  7. G Adam Redmond
  8. WR Tevaun Smith
  9. T Jeremy Vujnovich
  10. CB Frankie Williams

Morris, 24, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as a priority undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of 2014. He was unable to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but was later signed to the  Jaguars’ practice squad.

The Eagles would later claim him off of waivers after he was once again unable to make the cut coming out of the preseason. After spending much of the year on the practice squad, the Colts later added him to their active roster towards the end of the year.

Morris has yet to appear in an NFL game.
