The Indianapolis Colts announced Friday that they’ve signed tight end Jason Vander Laan to their practice squad.
The Colts’ practice squad now consists of:
- QB Phillip Walker
- NT Joey Mbu
- G Ian Silberman
- WR Matt Hazel
- DB Channing Stribling
- TE Mo Alie-Cox
- WR K.J. Brent
- DB Ronald Martin
- LB Vontarrius Dora
- TE Jason Vander Laan
Vander Laan, 25, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Ferris State last year. He also was cut loose during the preseason as the Colts trimmed their roster down to 75 players.
Vander Laan is a converted tight end after appearing as a quarterback at Ferris State during his four-year college career.
During his college career, Vander Laan started all 46 career games at quarterback at Ferris State and completed 666-of-1,050 passes for 8,240 yards with 85 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. He also rushed for 5,953 yards on 1,010 carries and 81 touchdowns.
Vander Laan has yet to appear in an NFL game.
