Colts Waive ILB Darnell Sankey, Re-Sign WR Matt Hazel

The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that they’ve re-signed WR Matt Hazel and waived ILB Darnell Sankey.

  • The Colts also signed LB Josh Perry to the practice squad.

Sankey, 22, originally signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State. Unfortunately, Denver chose to waive him as they trimmed down to 75 players.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad a few weeks into the regular season before cutting him loose in October of last year. He signed to the Chiefs practice squad but was released after a month with the team.

The Vikings signed him to a contract last month before cutting him loose last week.

During his four-year college career, Sankey recorded 330 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two recoveries an interception and nine pass defenses. Sankey earned FCS All-America honors during his senior season at Sacramento State.
