Colts Worked Out CBs E.J. Gaines & Kayvon Webster

Adam Caplan reports that the Colts brought in free agent CBs Kayvon Webster and E.J. Gaines for workouts on Monday.

Gaines, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Rams back in 2014. The Rams traded him to the Bills as part of the Sammy Watkins deal.

Gaines played out the final year of his four-year, $2,327,672 contract before signing with the Browns for 2018. After one year in Cleveland, Gaines signed a one-year contract worth up to $3.6 million with the Bills this past March.

The Bills placed Gaines on injured reserve in August and released him with a settlement. He worked out for the Texans last week but left Houston without a contract.

In 2018, Gaines appeared in six games for the Browns and recorded 13 tackles, one interception, and three pass defenses.

Webster, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract before signing a two-year, $7.75 million deal that included $4.25 million guaranteed with the Rams in 2017.

Webster was set to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2018 season when the Rams released him during the offseason. He spent last year with the Texans before the Saints signed him to a contract this summer.

Unfortunately, Webster was released coming out of the preseason.

In 2018, Webster appeared in two games for the Texans and recorded one tackle and no interceptions.
