According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Redskins could approach OLB Brian Orakpo regarding a contract extension this offseason.
“He proved himself to be valuable,” said La Canfora, via CBS Washington. “I think the big offseason thing will be Orakpo and I do think they’ll make every effort to get him signed long-term.”
Orakpo, 26, was lost for the season after he suffered another torn pectoral muscle back in September. He’s under contract for the 2013 season for a very reasonable $2.81 million, but will be entering the final year of his rookie deal.
“I think his absence this year really showed up and I think they know that [Ryan] Kerrigan needs somebody on the other end to help anchor for him,” La Canfora said.
