Michael Vick A Possible “Roster Casualty?”

For his Monday mailbag segment, CSN Philadelphia’s Eagles Insider Geoff Mosher fielded a question about which players could be preseason causalities.

When he got to the quarterback position, his opinion on Michael Vick‘s job security was quite blunt.

Mosher wrote that Vick could be expendable if new head coach Chip Kelly is sold on the young Nick Foles and rookie Matt Barkley. If he feels Foles is ready to take over and Barkley’s promise in legit, Vick may find himself leaving Philadelphia.

There is no actual hard news here to report, but it certainly sheds some light on what it would take to convince Kelly that Vick is not part of the plan going forward. There appears to be a growing belief that Kelly is leaning towards Foles over Vick.

In order to let him go, the Eagles would still owe Vick his $3.5 million signing bonus that was included in his recent one-year deal worth $7.5 million.
