The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.
Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.
Smith, 22, wound up going undrafted out of Alabama back in May of last year. He later signed a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Jaguars.
However, Jacksonville opted to waive him coming out of the preseason and he sat out the entire 2019 season.
During his one year at Alabama, Smith recorded 36 tackles, three interceptions, one defensive touchdown, a forced fumble and five passes defended.
