Cowboys Are Not Retaining Secondary Coach Kris Richard

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that new Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy will not retain defensive passing game coordinator/secondary coach Kris Richard as part of his coaching staff.

McCarthy is expected to hire Texas A&Mโ€™s cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist to coach their secondary under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan

The Giants actually interviewed Richard for their head-coaching job before hiring Joe Judge last week.

Richard, 40, began his coaching career with the Seahawks back in 2008 as a graduate assistant. He worked his way up to defensive in 2015 and spent the three seasons in charge of the Seahawksโ€™ defense before parting ways in 2017.

The Cowboys later hired Richard as their defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator. Richardโ€™s contract with the Cowboys is set to expire.
