Cowboys Sign RBs Michael Hill & Ben Malena, Waive/Injured S Ray Vinopal

The Dallas Cowboys have signed running backs Michael HIll and Ben Malena to a contracts following their workout earlier in the day, according to Nick Eatman.

  • Dallas also waived/injured S Ray Vinopal to make room for the new additions.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys are scheduled to work out running backs Michael Hill, Zach Bauman, and Ben Malena.

With Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle being limited during training camp due to injuries, and Darren McFadden officially making his training camp debut on Saturday, the Cowboys are looking for some depth at the position.

Hill, 26, is the only player of the trio that has played in a regular season game. He was most recently with the Redskins, but was cut loose last month.

In 2013, Hill appeared with the Buccaneers and the Packers, compiling nine carries for 23 yards and two catches for 23 yards with Tampa Bay, and returned one kickoff for 19 yards with Green Bay.

Malena, 23, was released by the Texans back in May, but this will be his second workout for the Cowboys in as many years.

Bauman, 23, spent last season on the Cardinals’ practice squad, but was released shortly after the draft. During his college career, he became the all-time leading rusher for Northern Arizona.

We will provide more information regarding the Cowboys and the three players as the news becomes available.
