Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys have agreed to acquire defensive end Robert Quinn from the Dolphins for a 2020 sixth-round draft pick.
- According to Calvin Watkins, the Dolphins will not pay any of Quinn’s $11.1 million base salary as part of the trade with the Cowboys.
- Clarence Hill reports that Quinn agreed to reduce his 2019 salary from $11.1 million down to $8 million plus incentives that can push the contract up to $10 million.
Reports from earlier in the day mentioned that the two teams had the parameters of a trade agreement in place with just some minor details to be worked out and it sounds like everything is in order for the deal to be processed on Friday.
Quinn met with the Cowboys last week before traveling to visit with the Saints on Monday.
However, recent reports mentioned that Dallas was serious about acquiring Quinn and having him play opposite of DeMarcus Lawrence in 2019.
Quinn, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2011. Heโs entering the final year of his four-year, $66.575 million extension that included $41.268 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $11.811 million for the 2019 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, trading Quinn will free up $12,932,332 of available cap space for the Dolphins while creating no dead money.
In 2018, Quinn appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and recorded 38 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.
