Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Cowboys have placed CB Terrance Mitchell on waivers Friday.
- Archer adds that CB Brandon McGee was also waived with the injury designation.
Should McGee clear waivers on Monday, it’s likely he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.
Mitchell, 24, is a former seventh round pick of the Cowboys back in May of 2014. He was unfortunately unable to make the Cowboys’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but later signed on to the Bears’ practice squad at the start of the season.
Mitchell managed to make the team coming out of the preseason this year, but was on and off of the Bears and Cowboys’ practice squads last year.
He’s currently in the second year of his three-year, $1.8 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.
In 2015, Mitchell appeared in eight games and recorded 13 tackles, a sack, an interception, a forced fumble and three pass defenses for the Bears and Cowboys.
McGee, 25, was taken by the Rams in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft. He was unfortunately among the team’s roster cuts last year, but later returned to the Rams’ practice squad.
Unfortunately, the Rams cut McGee loose midseason and later signed to to the Giants’ practice squad before the Cowboys gave him a one-year, future/reserve contract in January.
In 2015, McGee was active for just a single game and did not record a statistic.
