Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones’ Future Uncertain?

Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones‘ future could be in doubt, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN.

Looking at which players might lose their places on the team as a result of the upcoming Draft, Watkins brought up Jones.

Jones isn’t a feature back — in fact, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett continues to call him a complementary running back — and the team had internal discussions about trading him,” writes Watkins. “If the Cowboys find a younger version, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he’s let go.”

Watkins adds that Jones, even though he may have more talent, could be in need of a “fresh start” elsewhere.

Jones, a first-round draft pick in 2008, was the Cowboys’ feature back last September until DeMarco Murray burst onto the scene. The Cowboy’s will have to decide whether or not Jones fits into their long-term plans as he’ll be a free agent at the end of the 2012 season. Phillip Tanner, signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2011, is also on the depth chart.
