Jason La Canfora has tweeted that the Raiders and SS Tyvon Branch have agreed to a 4-year deal worth $26.6M. Branch will receive $17.1M in guaranteed money, and avoids the franchise tag.
This appears to be an excellent move for both sides. Had Branch played out his franchise year and hit the open market, it is fair to speculate that the bidding war would have driven his price up significantly higher.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports expects the Oakland Raiders to sign S Tyvon Branch to a long-term contract before Monday.
La Canfora adds that they’ve made “major progress” in the last week and believes that a deal will ultimately get done.
Oakland has made it pretty clear that Branch is apart of their their long-term plans, so this is as good as anytime to address his contract and prevent him from hitting the open market. We have Branch listed as the No. 22 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
