Reports from earlier in the week mentioned that the Arizona Cardinals were working to hire former Steelers DC Dick LeBeau the teamโs new linebackers coach.
However, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette isnโt so sure that LeBeau will eventually end up with the Cardinals.
โKnowing what I know about Dick LeBeau, and as I said in the tweet, unless he has changed his mind he has no interest in being a position coach,โ Dulac told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Wednesday. โAnd I donโt think he will be a linebackers coach for the Arizona Cardinals. Iโm not even sure heโll end up there.โ
According to Dulac, there is a better chance of LeBeau taking a job with the Titans than him relocating to Arizona.
โIโm not so sure he is going to go to the desert,โ Dulac said. โI believe thereโs a chance he could end up in Tennessee, which is three hours from Cincinnati, but I donโt believe he will go to Arizona. But if he does, trust me, it wonโt be as a linebackers coach.โ
Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean has maintained that he believes the Titans are still โin playโ for LeBeauโs services, so there could be something to this idea.
Both the Cardinals and Titans make sense for LeBeau based on the fact that he has ties to both coaching staffs. On top of that, Arizona and Tennessee both employ a 3-4 defense, so the transition for him would be as easy as any.
Weโll have more updates regarding LeBeau and where he could end up as the news is available.
