Dolphins Expected To Pursue Trade For Ravens HC John Harbaugh

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that it’s believed the Dolphins will formally make a call to the Ravens about a potential trade for HC John Harbaugh.

Florio mentions that some think it would require two first-round picks to land Harbaugh while others believe the compensation would be more reasonable than that.

According to Florio, some view the structural changes — firing Adam Gase, reassigning Mike Tannenbaum and promoting Chris Grier to GM — as a move aimed at creating a structure that would appeal to Harbaugh. Florio adds that Grier has a “team-first, no-ego approach” that could make him a good partner for a guy like Harbaugh.

Reports have said that Harbaugh could play out the final year of his contract and become a free agent after the 2019 season, even though the team announced that they plan to open extension talks with him.

Harbaugh, 56, began his NFL coaching career with the Eagles in 1998 as their special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach. He spent 10 years in Philadelphia before he was hired as the Ravens’ head coach in 2008.

During his nine years with the team, Harbaugh has led them to a record of 103-72 (58.9 percent), which includes six playoff appearances and one Super Bowl championship in 2012.

We’ll have more regarding the Dolphins as the news is available.
