According to Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com, word around the Scouting Combine is that the Dolphins are the “front runners” to sign Patriots free agent DE Trey Flowers at this point in time.
There are obvious ties between the Dolphins and Flowers, given that Miami hired former Patriots LBs coach Brian Flores as their new head coach.
The Dolphins are expected to overhaul their pass rushers this offseason, which could leave them in the market for someone like Flowers.
The Lions have also been tossed out as a speculative landing spot for Flowers due to his time working with Matt Patricia in New England.
Flowers, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,838,932 contract with the Patriots and is now in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Flowers appeared 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 32 tackles, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 6 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.

I would say just the opposite. Detroit the favorite over Miami.
