ESPN’s John Clayton reports that the Dolphins decision to sign QB Matt Moore will end up taking them out of the running for Bronco’s QB Kyle Orton who was believed to be on his way to Miami just yesterday.
The Dolphins will isn’t head into the 2011 season with a quarterback group that consists of Chad Henne, Matt Moore and Pat Devlin. This group of players is ok if we’re discussing potential but there is no way that they’re going to be able to rival the Patriots or Jets for the AFC East.
Denver looks like they are going to end up being stuck with Orton as the trade market for quarterbacks is all but dried up. Then again he is their best quarterback so I’m sure that they’ll manage. The real issue for Denver is Orton’s $8.8 million salary which will them sitting on the wrong side of the salary cap. The Broncos are going to have to move him, cut him or release someone else in order to keep themselves under the cap but that hasn’t stopped them from pursuing other big name free agents like Seahawks’s DT Brandon MeBane.
