The Miami Dolphins announced exercised their fifth-year option on LT Laremy Tunsil Thursday, according to numerous reports.
It’s worth mentioning that the fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury and won’t prevent the two parties from working on a long-term extension in the next year or so.
This is an obvious move for the Dolphins, as Tunsil has stepped in and helped to solidify the left tackle spot for Miami since being drafted.
Tunsil, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $12,457,650 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $2,148,771 for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Tunsil appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 36 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
