The Miami Dolphins announced Wednesday that they’ve waived LB Jayrone Elliott and placed S T.J. McDonald on the active/physically unable to perform list.
McDonald can be activated from the list at any time and will count against the team’s 90-man roster.
McDonald, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Rams back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.926 million rookie contract before signing a one-year, $1.34 million contract with the Dolphins in 2018.
Interestingly enough, the Dolphins elected to sign McDonald to a four-year, $24 million extension that includes $10 million at the start of the 2018 season, despite the fact that he was suspended for the first half of the season.
In 2018, McDonald appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins and recorded 86 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and five pass defenses.
