Dolphins HC Brian Flores told reporters Wednesday morning that WR Preston Williams would be placed on injured reserve, per Adam Beasley.
Flores says the injury is a “little bit more significant than we originally thought.” Reports yesterday indicated Williams suffered a sprain but appeared to avoid a break.
Under the new injured reserve rules this year, Williams will need to miss a minimum of three games but it sounds like he could be out longer.
Williams, 23, signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State following the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a three-year deal worth $1.755 million.
In 2020, Williams has appeared in eight games for the Dolphins and recorded 18 receptions for 288 yards (16 YPC) and four touchdowns.
