The Miami Dolphins announced Wednesday that they’ve re-signed S Maurice Smith and placed LB Chase Allen on injured reserve.
Smith, 23, wound up signing on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in May of last year. He managed to make the Dolphins’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year, but was among the team’s final roster cuts a few weeks ago.
The Dolphins later signed Smith to their practice squad after he cleared waivers. Miami promoted him to their active roster last month before recently waiving him.
In 2018, Smith has appeared in four games for the Dolphins and recorded three tackles and one pass defense.
