The Miami Dolphins announced that they’ve placed DT Kendrick Norton on waivers with a non-football injury designation Sunday.
Yates notes that this move will still allow the Dolphins to pay Norton his full salary and support him moving forward after he was involved a serious car crash that resulted in his arm being amputated.
Norton, 22, is a former seventh-round pick by the Panthers out of Miami in the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.5 million rookie contract but was among Carolina’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.
Norton signed on with the Panthers’ practice squad after clearing waivers. The Dolphins signed him off the Panthers practice squad last December.
During his three-year college career at Miami, Norton recorded 84 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks, one pass defense, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble.
