ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that the Miami Dolphins will hire Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin to be their next head coach.
We mentioned earlier in the day that the race was down to Philbin and Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy but added that Todd Bowles still had a shot at getting the position.
Ultimately, the Dolphins chose to go with the man who had helped the Packers become one of the best offenses in the entire league. Philbin spent a good amount of time working on game-plans for the Packers so his offensive acumen is as good as any in football but Mike McCarthy still called plays for the team.
Looks like the next step is to find a quarterback of the future. Matt Flynn‘s name should start coming up more and more regarding the possibility of joining the Dolphins.
