ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Buffalo Bills S Donte Whitner has made the decision to pass up the Cincinnati Bengals offer and sign with the 49ers instead.
It was reported earlier to day that a deal was done with the Bengals but that obviously was not the case. This plays into the previous rumors that San Francisco was shopping S Taylor Mays because they knew that they had a deal in the works with Whitner. The 49ers gave him a three-year deal worth $11.75 million  and includes $4 million guaranteed.
Not to bad for considering that it’s late into free agency.
