Eagles DE Trent Cole will return to Philadelphia for the 2013 season despite what could be a large-scale roster purge this offseason, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
After the team released DE Jason Babin a few weeks ago, analysts figured Cole would be the next in line of Eagles players out after a disappointing 2012. The pass rusher signed a six-year, $59 million contract this year and is due $5.1 million next season.
Cole’s had 1.5 sacks since the team scrapped its “Wide 9” defense and will be a leader on a young defensive line next season that looks to feature Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox.
