Eagles G Danny Watkins Could Be On The Chopping Block

Vaughn Johnson of Philadelphia Inquirer writes that Eagles G Danny Watkins could end up being released at some point in the coming months now that their offensive line offers a good amount of depth.

The Eagles drafted Oklahoma OT Lane Johnson at No. 4 overall, which basically guarantees him a starting job this season. Johnson expects Jason Peters to return and reclaim the starting left tackle job with Todd Herremans and Evan Mathis manning the guard spots.

The former first round pick has struggled in his first few seasons in the league and is already 28-years-old. Johnson mentions that the Kansas City Chiefs could be an option for him should he get released, considering that the Andy Reid drafted him a few years ago. The CFL would make sense as well, as Watkins is from British Columbia and B.C. Lions actually hold his rights after drafting him back in 2010.
