Eagles Gain $5.756M Of Cap Room By Reworking TE Zach Ertz’s Contract

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Eagles have converted $7.195 million of TE Zach Ertz’ contract into a bonus and in turn created $5.756 million of cap space in 2019.

This marks the second straight year the Eagles have reworked Ertz’s contract for cap space.

OverTheCap.com had the Eagles with $21,764,518 before this move, so this should be in good shape moving forward.

Ertz, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2013. He’s entering in the fourth year of his six-year, $43.64 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.

Ertz stands to make base salaries of $7.5 million (2019), $7.25 million (2020), and $7.75 million (2020).

In 2018, Ertz appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and caught 116 passes for 1,163 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 8 tight end out of 70 qualifying players.
